Deformed bars are known as steel rods with lugs, ribs or deformation on the surface of bar, which minimize any form of slippage in concrete and strengthens the bond between two materials. Deformed bars have more tensile stresses than mild steel plain bars. TMT bars, or thermo mechanically treated bars are high strength deformed bars used in reinforced concrete. They have superior properties such as strength, ductility, bending ability, and corrosion resistance.
