The long form of this is Pre-stressed Concrete Wire, which is a high-grade steel wire that is commonly used to counter low-tension qualities in concrete. It is made out of high carbon steel and can be divided according to wire diameter, intensity level, surface coating and cross-section. PC wire is used in major construction projects to increase the strength of cast concrete components, ranging from railway track sleepers, floor beams, pipe systems and ground piles. It is also used for bridges, cement poles, crane beams, stadiums and dams.
